2 December
  • Pura Ida Ratu Mas and Pura Ida Bhatara Bang Tulus Dewa, Besakih complex – Rendang district. Ceremony start at 10.00 am.
  • Throughout Bali by Hindus people. Sugihan Jawa celebration is the day to comemmemorate the glory of Hindus from Majapahit or Java where they give offering to their ancestor spirits to respecting.
8 December “ Galungan “ holiday the day believed as the victory day of “dharma (Virtue) upon “adharma (evil), when the intire island is brightened with festivities while “Penjor “ the artistically, decorated, bamboo pole stuck at every house entrance adorning the both sides of village roads, symbolizing prosperity.Throughout Bali.

Usaba Desta ceremony ;
  • 8 December, The ritual of eleventh month at the same time  as anniversary celebration of Dulun Swargan at 06.00pm cheered with Gambang music. This procession ended within a day.
  • 9 December, Same as in first ceremony and every family present the offerings.
  • 10 December, Last ritual at Dulun Swarga temple at 06.00 pm.
9 December
  • Pura Lempuyang luhur, Tista – Abang district. Ceremony for 3 days.
  • Pura Rambut petung Pesedahan and Pura Puseh pakel Gegelang – Manggis disitrict. Ceremony start at 10.00 am.
  • Pura Puseh Nyuhtebel,Manggis district Odalan Betara Rambut Petung at 02.00 pm.
18 December
  • Kuningan, holiday the last day of Galungan celebration, believed to be the ascendant day of the acentral holy spirits and deities to heaven after sojourning for several days on this material world.On this day, special offering consisted of yellow rice and special dishes are offered while every compound and temple is decorated with ornaments made of young coconut leaves and flowers. Throughout Bali.  
  • Pura Puseh bunga, Ban – Kubu district. Ceremony accompanied by Rejang,  Baris bedil, Baris bajra and Baris tombak dances start at 02.00 pm.
  • Pura Pemidangan, Br.Kaang-kaang/ Culik – Abang district. Ceremony accompanied by Baris dadap dance start at 07.00 pm.
20 December
  • Pura Banua Besakih, Besakih Complex – Rendang District. Usaba Ngaed/ ceremony accompanied by religious song and gong orchestra start at 10.00 am.
  • Pura Gunungrena, Sidemen – Sidemen district. Celebration accompanied by religious song and gong orchestra start at 10.00 am.
  • Pura Puncak Gunung Mangu, Tianyar – Kubu district. Celebration accompanied by religious song and gong orchestra start at 02.00 pm. 
22 December
  • Pura Ratu Ida Sundaring Jagat – Pura Penataran Agung, Besakih complex – Rendang district.
  • Pura Puseh Telengan, Gegelang – Manggis district. Ceremony start at 10.00 am.
28 – 30 December
  • Pura Sad Khahyangan Andakasa, Antiga – Manggis district. Ceremony start at 10.00 am .
  • Pura Bale Agung Antiga and Pura Dalem babakan, Gegelang – Manggis district. Ceremony start at 10.00 am.

Usaba Kesadha ceremony;
  • 4 January, Means ritual of the twelfth month commenced with temple anniversary celebration of Jero temple accompanied by Gambang music at 06.00 pm
  • 5 January, The main ceremony held at Jero temple when the whole ten adherents praying to the temple in their finest traditional dress while Gambang music cheers the atmosphere at 05.00 pm.
  • 6 January, The last day of ritual held at Jero temple ended with procession Deities back to Subak Pemaksan (the agriculture temple) at 06.00 pm. followed by special event held for the olderly people in the village.

What You Should and Should not do, during your visit to Mount Agung

  1. Days when we can not visit Mount Agung:
    1. During ceremonies held in Pasar Agung Giri Tohlangkir Temple, Sebudi Village. The ceremonies should be noticed are as follows:
      • Purnama Kelima (Fifth Full Moon), which occurs on October or November, based on Balinese Calendar. Mount Agung Should be escaped for 15 days (3 days before the full moon and 11 days after the full moon).
      • Purnama Kedasa (Tenth Full Moon), which occurs on October or November, based on Balinese Calendar. The visit to Gunung Agung Should be escaped for 15 days (3 days before the full moon and 11 days after the full moon).
      • Every Rabu Wage Uku Ukir (Wednesday Wage Uku Ukir), based on Balinese Calendar. The visit to Mount Agung shouldn’t be done for 3 days
      • Every Kesanga (a day before Nyepi Day/Silent day) and on the Nyepi day
    2. Every Buda Wage/Wednesday Wage (Balinese Calendar)
    3. Every Anggara Kasih/Tuesday Keliwon (Balinese Calendar)
    4. Every Tumpek/Saturday Keliwon (Balinese Calendar).
  2. Prohibition in visiting Mount Agung
    1. Do not visit Mount Agung during cuntaka (having menstruation or loosing a member of family)
    2. Do not visit Mount Agung while bringing pork
    3. Do not visit Mount Agung while bringing beef
    4. Do not visit Mount Agung while wearing golden accessories
    5. Do not throw away wastes and do not commit other wrong things in Mount Agung, which is said to be sacred. This is important for the security of visitors themselves.
